Our Friend, Scott Van Coevern

Scott participated in baseball for eleven years and really played for “the love of the game”. Being a natural athlete, Scott could play any position on the field.  He was also an umpire for Jefferson County Junior Baseball and worked for the Green Mountain Junior Baseball Association doing field maintenance for spring, summer and fall baseball. Scott’s adventurous spirit and contagious smile were an inspiration to all of his friends.

Scott’s adventures also led him to the great outdoors where he once took a 2,000 mile motorcycle trip to Yellowstone Park.  He loved other sports that Colorado offered and often you could find him snow or water skiing, jet skiing or mountain biking.  It was his love for the great outdoors that led him to Grand Lake, Colorado, where he perished in a snowmobile accident on January 20, 1997.

This spring, Scott would want you to play for the victory, but in defeat let it teach you to be humble and a good sport.

Thanks for participating in our tournament. GMJBA is proud to sponsor this tournament in Scott’s memory.
